Myopia Management
Helping Protect Your Child’s Vision for the Future
Myopia (nearsightedness) is becoming increasingly common in children. As myopia progresses, the eye grows longer, increasing the risk of developing serious eye diseases later in life, including retinal detachment, glaucoma, cataracts, and myopic macular degeneration.
At Parkrose Vision, we offer personalized myopia management programs designed to help slow myopia progression and protect your child's long-term eye health.
Treatment Options
Every child is unique. After a comprehensive evaluation, our doctors will recommend the treatment option that best fits your child's age, prescription, lifestyle, and visual needs.
Orthokeratology (Ortho-K)
Custom-designed lenses worn overnight gently reshape the cornea while your child sleeps, providing clear vision during the day without glasses or contact lenses.
MiSight® 1 Day Contact Lenses
The first FDA-approved soft contact lens shown to slow myopia progression in children while providing clear vision throughout the day.
Stellest® Myopia Control Lenses
Specially designed spectacle lenses that provide clear vision while helping slow myopia progression. An excellent option for children who are not ready for contact lenses.
Low-Dose Atropine Eye Drops
Prescription eye drops used nightly to help slow eye growth. Depending on your child's needs, atropine may be recommended alone or in combination with another treatment.
Monitoring Progress
Successful myopia management is about more than updating a glasses prescription. During follow-up visits, we monitor your child's prescription, eye growth (axial length), and overall eye health to evaluate treatment effectiveness and make adjustments as needed.
Is My Child a Candidate?
Your child may benefit from myopia management if they:
Have become more nearsighted over the past year
Were diagnosed with myopia at a young age
Have one or both parents with myopia
Spend significant time on near work or digital devices
Early intervention offers the greatest opportunity to slow myopia progression.
