The clarity of your vision matters!

While driving to work, running errands, Picking up the kids from school. or just driving around for fun. There is a silent enemy to our vision and that is glare! Recent studies have shown that an incredibly high percent of car accidents have occurred due poor vision, and if the driver was already wearing glasses, lens glare can be the culprit.*

How can we combat glare?

When it comes to prescription eyewear most glasses are made out of a material called CR-39. This type of plastic material offers one of the highest refraction indexes available. This means that the clarity that it can offer is superior to other materials. The downside to this is the glare. Glare is additional brightness caused by direct light or reflected light on lenses. This can cause the glasses wearer to experience halo effects, eye strain, and more.

But this has a solution, Coatings! a positive aspect as well of CR-39 is that it is a porous material that can adhere to other materials or absorb different chemical compounds like coatings. Anti- Reflective coatings can drastically change the glare and light reflection on lenses, offering a higher quality lens. Now, not all coatings are made equal!

Some lower quality coatings can simply be rolled on films that get glued on to the lenses themselves. although they are a very affordable option. The durability of these films is lackluster at best. A better and higher quality option are chemical based coatings that can be imbedded into multiple layers of the lens. Besides being Anti - Reflective and Anti - Glare these coatings offer additional benefits such as UV A and B blocking, Anti Scratch, smudge proof and water repellant and more!

Talk to your opticians about the best coatings for you!

Opticians are your go to professional when it comes to lens enchantments. Optometrist and Opticians work hand in hand to be able to provide the best vision possible to patients. When an Optometrist preforms an eye exam and determines patients eye conditions, the Optician can help figure out the best ways to give the patent proper eyewear, based off of the prescription and conditions. This can include not just properly fitting frames but lenses with the necessary enhancements to provide the best vision possible. From Anti - Reflective coating to photochromic lenses.

The right combination of lens material, Coatings, and Frame can make or break your visual quality. Your Optician will always make the best recommendations for you.
